After a long battle, the court has finally announced that Johnny Depp has won the infamous defamation case against Amber Heard. The jury reached a unanimous decision that Amber Heard maliciously defamed Depp in the op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post in 2018. The latest update on the case is that Amber Heard allegedly intention to appeal the verdict in the defamation case.
Deliberations on the case began in Fairfax, Va., as Depp sued Amber Heard for $50 million for defamation. To retaliate against the decision, Amber Heard counter-sued Johnny Depp for $100 million, claiming that she suffered domestic abuse during her marriage to Depp. According to a report from a leading publication, Amber Heard plans to appeal the verdict in the case. Alafair Hall, a spokeswoman for Ms Heard, also said she planned to appeal.

The actress also took to her social media to express her disappointment. She wrote: “The disappointment I feel today is beyond words. I am heartbroken that the mountain of evidence was still not enough to stand up to power, influence and abuse. disproportionate hold of my ex-husband. I’m even more disappointed with what this verdict means for other women. It’s a setback. It sets the clock back to a time when a woman who spoke up and spoke out could be publicly shamed and humiliated. It pushes back the idea that violence against women should be taken seriously.”
In the editorial written for The Washington Post, Amber Heard wrote that she was a “public figure representing domestic violence”. The op-ed was titled, “I spoke out against sexual violence and faced the wrath of our culture. This must change.
