Former Australian rugby league footballer Brett John Finch competed in the 2000s and 2010s. On December 14 of last year, around 6.50 am, police invaded Finch’s Sans Souci residence and arrested him. He was accused on five counts of making available child abuse material while utilising a carriage service. Two further charges against him were brought against him early this year.
But on Tuesday, the police dismissed six of the accusations, and his attorney Paul McGirr pleaded guilty to one count of using a carriage service to distribute child abuse materials. The maximum sentence for the offence is 15 years in jail.
