Since 2017, Charlie Joseph Crist Jr. has represented Florida’s 13th congressional district as a lawyer and politician in the United States. St. Petersburg is the district’s headquarters. From 2007 until 2011, he was Florida’s 44th governor.

On July 24, 1956, Charles Joseph Crist, an American physician of Greek Cypriot and Lebanese ancestry, and Nancy (née Lee), a woman of Scots-Irish, Swiss, and Welsh ancestry, welcomed Crist into the world in Altoona, Pennsylvania. His last name is a translation of the Greek given name “Christodoulos.” Crist’s family relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida, when he was a youngster. He attended Riviera Middle School and St. Petersburg High School, where he eventually graduated in 1974.

Charlie Crist won the election to become Florida’s 44th governor on November 7, 2006. During his tenure, he directed federal stimulus funds to help pay teachers in Florida’s public schools. In 2010, Governor Crist actively participated in Florida’s effort to lessen the environmental harm the Deepwater Horizon oil spill brought on the state’s northwest Gulf coast.
After serving for one term as governor, Crist unsuccessfully ran as an Independent for the US Senate and as a Democrat for governor in 2014. In 2016, Crist was elected to the US House of Representatives, serving Florida’s St. Petersburg-Clearwater region’s 13th Congressional District.

Roslyn, New York, a Long Island suburb of New York City, is where Crist was born and reared. She is the child of Robert and Margaret Oumano. Mr. Oumano served as the previous leader of the family-run Franco-American Novelty Company, which manufactures Halloween decorations and costumes. The business was established in Glendale, Queens, in 1910. Crist received a degree in accounting with honours from Georgetown University.
