Wednesday’s US Open action was brisk, and Coco Gauff highlighted the importance of speed by hitting a 128 mph serve in her 6-2, 7-6 (4) triumph over Elena-Gabriela Ruse.
The serve is officially the third-fastest in US Open history, trailing only Venus Williams (2007) and Alycia Parks (2021), both of whom recorded speeds of 129 mph. It is also the fifth-fastest serve ever made by a woman overall.
