Noble, a rover from Tasmania, started playing senior football in the Tasmanian Football League in 1985 with North Hobart. He was soon named the club’s vice-captain and went on to win the 1987 and 1989 state championships.

David King, a premiership-winning player for North Melbourne, feels senior coach David Noble’s team’s on-field problems could grow worse before improving, and he is urging the AFL community to reevaluate their expectations of him.

With only 24 points scored in round eight and a 78-point loss to Fremantle, the Kangaroos are in in bottom place on the ladder with just one win to their name.

In an interview with AFL 360, King emphasised that the struggling club will remain that way for at least the rest of the year and probably longer, and he noted that Noble’s position was not one that had particularly long-term viability.

With the 111th choice in the 1989 draught, Noble was selected by Fitzroy to play in the Australian Football League. He primarily participated in Fitzroy’s reserves. Fitzroy played four premiership games on his old home field, North Hobart Oval, between 1991 and 1992.

His senior debut, in Round 6, 1991, was the first of those games, but Fitzroy lost to Hawthorn by 157 points. For Fitzroy, he only participated in one more senior game. During his career, he participated in two state of origin games for Tasmania.

Following North’s defeat by Collingwood on Saturday—its 14th straight setback—Noble and the club came to the conclusion on Monday after a series of discussions.

At a press conference alongside club president Dr. Sonja Hood and CEO Ben Amarfio, Noble said the choice had been made on Monday.

He added that the conversation was merely a continuation of discussions that had begun “a few weeks ago” when it became apparent that the results weren’t getting better.
