Australian track and field athlete Eleanor Patterson competes in the high jump. On July 19, 2022, in Eugene, Oregon, the current world champion set an Australian record by jumping 2.02 metres. She jumped 1.95 metres in her Group to qualify for the final and earn a spot in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The 26-year-old joins athletes like Cathy Freeman, Dani Samuels, and Sally Pearson as the eighth Australian to win an athletics world title.

Patterson won the competition with a jump of 2.02 metres, beating out Yaroslava Mahuchikh of Ukraine and Elena Vallortigara of Italy on a countback (2.00m).
