After trailing 14-2 to start the game, the Warriors eventually took control of things, thanks to a 30-8 run that extended from the end of the first quarter to the second.
After the Lakers, the Warriors are the second team to beat Boston at home to win the NBA title. With tonight’s win, the team now has 7 titles.
In the end, the Warriors won 103–90, giving Boston a chance to advance in their decades-long rivalry with the Los Angeles Lakers. (Boston and LA are currently tied for the most NBA championship wins, 17.)

Throughout all of these NBA Finals, Steph Curry has been more openly emotional than usual, engaging with Boston fans and performing audacious opening ceremonies.
After coach Steve Kerr made his Golden State debut with a win – and title – assurance, Curry began crying at the baseline, hugging his father, Dale, who had a cigar at the ready. When time ran out, the tears really began to flow, as Curry cried through his ABC interview with Lisa Salter.

Curry was named NBA Finals MVP for the first time on Thursday following the Golden State Warriors’ 103-90 win over the Boston Celtics in Game 6.
Curry’s legacy was already protected. As a two-time MVP and three-time champion, Curry would already have gone down in NBA history as one of the greatest players of all time. But his critics have long maintained the lack of a final MVP trophy against him.
His first championship came against a team that did not have his second and third best players. His second and third were part of arguably the greatest team of all time.
