Kai Sotto: Did Get Drafted, Draft Projection, Draft 2022, Stats
Jeremy Lin has some advise for Kai Sotto after his goal of playing in the NBA was dashed after he was passed over by all 30 clubs in Thursday’s draught.
Did Get Drafted:
Kai Sotto remains undrafted in the NBA Draft 2022.
After clubs passed on the big man at the Rookie Draft on Friday, Kai Sotto and his fellow compatriots will have to wait a little longer to realise their NBA dreams.
Sotto seemed to be the one to make it through due to his size and become the first native Filipino to be selected in the league. He had been projected to go late in the second round.
Draft Projection:
Sotto is allegedly the next unicorn draught prospect, according to some. a potential “steal of this draught” pick if selected somewhere other than the lottery. He is not in the top 60 according to other scouts and pundits.
Let’s choose a neutral position. Because of his potential in the frontcourt and in the media, Sotto ought to be selected on Thursday. Sotto is on his way to become the first player from the Philippines to play in the NBA.
Being 7’2″, it is not surprising that rebounding is one of Sotto’s top skills. He has demonstrated a talent for finding the shot and a superb putback ability, especially on the offensive end.
He has some range, hitting 38 percent of his three-point tries for the 36ers while also hitting a nice mid-range jumper. He only attempted 13 shots from long range in Australia, so he needs to be more consistent there.
Draft 2022:
On Friday (Manila time), at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, Kai Sotto was not chosen in the 2022 NBA Rookie Draft.
After 58 picks, Commissioner Adam Silver and his deputy Mark Tatum did not announce the name of the 7-foot-3 centre, therefore no NBA franchise took a chance on him.
Paolo Banchero, a powerful Duke forward, was chosen by the Magic on Thursday night with the first overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.
Stats:
Kai Zachary Sotto, a member of the Mythical Five and the son of former PBA player Ervin Sotto, was voted Finals MVP of the UAAP Season 80 Juniors Basketball Tournament after averaging 17 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 6.3 blocks throughout the course of the three-game championship playoffs.
With a rating of 21.5 with averages of 16.8 points, 13.5 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks, Kai is selected to the FIBA U16 Asia Championship Mythical First Team and is named the most effective player of the event.
