Karen Abgarovich Khachanov, born 21 May 1996, is a Russian tennis player who competes professionally. Khachanov has won four ATP Tour singles championships, including a Masters 1000 title at the 2018 Paris Masters, won a silver medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, and advanced to the semifinals of two major tournaments in 2022 and 2023. On July 15, 2019, he reached his all-time-high singles position of No. 8 in the world.

The tennis federation of Azerbaijan has demanded that Karen Khachanov be punished after the Russian player at the Australian Open showed sympathy for the residents of the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh territory, who are a majority of Armenian descent.

After matches in Melbourne, Khachanov, who is of Armenian descent, wrote “Artsakh stay strong” on TV cameras.
