Phool aur Kaante director Kuku Kohli recently opened up in an interview about his extra-marital affair with veteran Bollywood actress Aruna Irani. The duo got married later in 1990. He also talked about how accepting his family was of Irani.
During a recent interaction with ETimes, Aruna Irani revealed the details of her marriage to the director and her falling in love on the sets of a movie. She also shared that she didn’t know the filmmaker was married when they first met. As his first wife passed away a few months ago, Irani decided to make a public comment on their relationship.
Speaking to ETimes, Kuku commented on the same saying, “Dekho, ye saari cheezen to hoti rehti hain hamare industry mein. We work together, exchange ideas.” He also added that they were initially in a cohabiting relationship. When asked if his daughters had agreed to him, he said, “Aisa kabhi mauka hi nahi aaya.”
The director was also asked if it was easy for him to manage two houses simultaneously. He added: “It’s neither easy nor difficult; it depends on how you manage.”
Aruna Irani also spoke about her relationship with the filmmaker. She says,
“He didn’t even tell me he was married when we met and that’s how I fell in love with him. So it didn’t seem right to talk about our relationship because he was already married with a wife and daughters. Now I bring it up because his first wife died a few months ago.”
On the work front, Kuku Kohli has taken a break from Bollywood. Aruna Irani has been in the industry for over six decades and is also a popular name in the television industry.
