Born When Loretta Webb, a native of Kentucky, travelled to Washington as a teenager with her husband Oliver Vanetta “Doolittle” Lynn, she made her debut in the music business.

She started creating songs about the marriage after being inspired by the early years of their union. Before releasing her first record, “I’m a Honky Tonk Girl,” in March 1960, Loretta played with the group Loretta and the Trailblazers at local clubs.

The musician’s involvement in Nashville’s country music scene increased throughout the years. “Don’t Come Home A-Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ on Your Mind)” became her first of 16 No. 1 songs in 1967. “You Ain’t Woman Enough (To Take My Man),” “Fist City,” and “Coal Miner’s Daughter,” among other hits, were released by Loretta later.

In September 1962, Loretta joined the Grand Ole Opry, and on October 15, 1960, she made her first appearance there.
