Former Phoenix Suns and New Orleans Pelicans coach Tyrone Williams leaves the team a year after agreeing to a six-year contract worth an estimated $78.5 million ($A118 million), the highest salary for a coach in NBA history.
The Pistons would “absorb” the $65 million ($A98 million) that was left on his deal, according to ESPN. Williams, the 2022 NBA Coach of the Year in Phoenix, was lured to Detroit by Gores in the hopes of revitalizing a youthful team led by Croatian forward Bojan Bogdanovic.
