Nayanthara, who was recently seen in the Tamil romantic comedy Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kadhal, directed by her longtime boyfriend Vignesh Shivan, is to get married. Nayanthara and Vignesh who have been dating for almost seven years are due to wed on Thursday June 9 in Chennai. They met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin over the weekend and invited him to their wedding.
A photo of Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan with the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has surfaced on social media, showing them handing him a bouquet. Nayanthara held the wedding invitation. MK Stalin’s son, actor-producer Udhayanidhi Stalin, was also present. The wedding is expected to take place at a resort near Chennai’s East Coast Road.

Last year, Nayanthara announced her engagement to partner Vignesh Shivan on regional television. Nayanthara discussed his relationship status while promoting his film Netrikann. Nayanthara was asked about the ring on her finger during a talk show appearance, and she confirmed she was engaged to Vignesh Shivan.
Nayanthara and Vignesh started dating after working together on her second film, Naanum Rowdydhaan. Vijay Sethupathi also appeared in the film, which was a box office success.
Meanwhile, Vignesh and Nayanthara have recently started producing. Koozhangal, aka Pebbles, was recently selected for the Shanghai International Film Festival. The film follows a father-son duo broken by poverty as they try to find their way in life. It only features newcomers and features music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. PS Vinothraj directed the film.
After its release in April, Vignesh Shivan’s latest director Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kadhal was also a box office success. Vijay Sethupathi and Samantha Ruth Prabhu also appeared in the film. Nayanthara is currently awaiting the release of his upcoming Tamil thriller O2 which will be available exclusively on OTT.
