In the prelims of the 200 fly at the 2022 World Championships, Noe Ponti threw a time of 1:54.75, breaking his own Swiss record of 1:55.05, which was set in the preliminary heats of the Tokyo Olympic Games by 0.3 seconds.
He now has 15 of the fastest 200 fly times ever recorded by a Swiss man and has become the first man from his country to come under the 1:55 barrier in the event.

NC State:
NC State now has a medalist in each of the last four Olympic Games. Ponti’s performance was followed by Ryan Held’s gold medal in the 4×100 m freestyle relay from 2016, Cullen Jones’ pair silver medal from 2012 and Jones’ 4×100 m freestyle relay gold medal from 2008.
