Ezequiel Duran and Jonah Heim with clutch hits in extra innings to give Rangers an 8-6 win over the White Sox.
Vs Lightning:
The season just completed by the Rangers doesn’t happen often. No one needed to tell Chris Kreider and Mika Zibnejad that the Rangers’ surprising — and captivating — playoff run came to an end after a 2-1 loss to the Lightning in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Saturday night in Tampa.
Barkley Goodrow, who never scored more than 26 points in a season, was signed to an insane six-year deal. But hey, it propelled him to a magical 33 points this season.
Ryan Reeves and the geode who stood for his mind were also brought in, and any team that voluntarily signs Ryan Reeves should probably be disqualified from the playoffs before the season begins.
Score:
The Tampa Bay Lightning is going to the Stanley Cup Finals for the third consecutive season. With a 2–1 win over the New York Rangers in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals, the Lightning went on to face the Colorado Avalanche for the NHL’s top prize.
Shesterkin did everything he could to force Game 7 in New York, but his offense let him down for the final time in the series. On Tampa’s game-winning goal, Shesterkin made a save but was hit by an ominous bounce.
Everywhere outside the crease, Rangers were completely out, and their five-for-five offense was non-existent. In the final four games of the series, New York scored only one five-for-five goal.
Game Tonight:
The New York Rangers had the Tampa Bay Lightning on the brink less than a week ago holding a 2-0 lead midway through Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Final.
Gallant made a minor change for Game 5, rejoining Kevin Rooney in favor of veteran Ryan Reeves, who was scratched first in the playoffs in an effort to add momentum to the lineup. But it appears there’s something more important to this win-or-go-home game.

Fan Punch:
A Rangers fan from Madison Square Garden has been charged with assault and banned for life after being accused of sucking up rival fan moments after the Rangers lost Thursday night’s game.
Police say the suspect, identified as 29-year-old James Anastasio of Staten Island, also punched a Good Samaritan, who tried to intervene.
In an interview with the New York Post, the 37-year-old victim, who tried to intervene after the original punch, said it was ‘laughable’ to suggest that Anastasio is also a victim.
The Good Samaritan said he was coming out of a luxury suite when he saw Anastasio and a friend trying to start a fight with someone wearing a Tampa jersey, ‘before that incident happened.’
News:
The New York Rangers’ third line in the Eastern Conference Finals was their most impressive of all time.
So when Capo Kako, the winger who usually played on the right side of Alexis Lafrenier and Filip Chittil, was a healthy scratch for Game 6 against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday night, many were quite confused.
New York Rangers coach Gerard Gallant was asked during the broadcast by ESPN reporter Emily Kaplan if he would lead viewers through the decision to scratch the No. 2 overall draft pick in 2019.
