Gronkowski initially left the NFL in 2019. In an interview with “CBS Sunday Morning” at the time, he said, “I just wasn’t feeling like myself anymore.” “That’s basically the main reason,” he said then. “The lifestyle caught up to me, and I was just fighting my way through the last two years.
Originally selected as a second-round pick by the Patriots in the 2010 NFL Draft, Gronkowski quickly established himself as one of the major tight ends in the league.
Overall, Gronkowski caught 621 passes in 143 regular season games in his NFL career. He scored a total of 9,286 career receiving yards with 93 touchdowns (92 receiving, one rushing).
