When it comes to Sanjay Leela Bhansali and the magnum opus he brings to life on screen, it’s always about being larger than life. The ace filmmaker who is currently basking in the glory of the runaway success of Gangubai Kathiawadi is already making headlines for his upcoming OTT project – Heeramandi.According to reports, an OTT giant has been in talks and has already locked up a whopping amount of Rs 200 crores for the production of the project. This also includes a nice compensation for the director himself. While the budget is touted as something extraordinary, the director himself would most likely have to bring home Rs 60-65 crore.

The casting of Heeramandi has been going on for a long time and several names have come out through the rumors i.e. Sonakshi Sinha, Manisha Koirala, Huma Qureshi and Richa Chadda – are some of the top contenders to play the key roles.
Heeramandi’s screenplay is based on the lives of courtesans in the pre-independence era. It’s going to tackle key emotions such as love, betrayal and politics and the would-be OTT giant is ready to raise its money on this production run.

As quoted in Times Of India, acting legend Mumtaz has also been offered a role to play a mujra in the said web series. However, she declined the offer stating that dancing at that age might not be a feasible option for her.
