Since 2020, British professional boxer Savannah Rose Marshall has held the WBO female middleweight championship. She won gold in the 2012 World Championships and, as an amateur, became the first British woman to win a world championship. Due of her shyness, she has the moniker “Silent Assassin.”

On the undercard of The Money Fight, in the professional boxing super-fight between the undefeated five-division champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. and the former UFC Lightweight and Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor, Marshall made her professional boxing debut at super-middleweight. In a four-round fight, she defeated Sydney LeBlanc by unanimous decision (40-36) on August 26, 2017, at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada. Marshall won the vacant WBA super-middleweight Inter-continental title in Sofia, Bulgaria, by winning all 10 rounds and defeating Yanina Orozco on points.

Should either Claressa Shields or Savannah Marshall lose their widely awaited undisputed battle on September 10, they will both have the option of invoking a rematch clause.
The longtime foes will square off at the O2 Arena for the middleweight championship, with Shields defending her WBC, IBF, WBA, and Ring magazine crowns and Marshall bringing her WBO belt to the fight.
The two will headline the first all-female televised boxing event in the UK on a historic night for women’s boxing, and BOXXER promoter Ben Shalom said a multi-fight contract was in the works before the bout was formally announced.
