The tragic death of Sidhu Moosewala has come as a big shock to the Punjabi music industry, his fans and his family. The site where the artist was cremated has now become a place of pilgrimage, as fans from distant villages descend in droves to pay their respects.
The singer and politician’s last rites took place recently, in the presence of his close friends, family and hundreds of fans. This comes after Moosewala was brutally gunned down in Mansa district in Punjab. The loss was heavily mourned as he was extremely talented at the age of 28. He was also revered among his huge fanbase who were shocked by the sudden news.

To keep the singer’s memories alive, his family cremated him in their fields instead of the crematorium. The site has now become a memorial as fans flock to pay their respects. Some bow their heads asking for blessings, some offer flowers where the singer’s photographs are kept. Some fans are taking selfies with a photo of Moosewala. The photo bears the inscription ‘Soorme marde nahi amar ho jaande ne’ which translates to Warriors never die, they become immortal.
