Future American musical fantasy film The Little Mermaid is being directed by Rob Marshall, based on a narrative by Magee, Marshall, and John DeLuca and a screenplay by David Magee. Alan Menken is scheduled to return as the composer for both the score and the songs. It is produced by Rob Marshall, John DeLuca, Marc Platt, and Lin-Manuel Miranda, the latter of whom co-wrote new songs for the remake as the lyricist.

Behind The Scenes:
Ariel will be portrayed in the new adaption by Halle Bailey, who is well-known as one half of the Grammy-nominated sibling group Chloe x Halle. Bailey had previously starred on television in the role of Sky in the show Grown-ish, but The Little Mermaid will be her first leading part in a feature picture.
The broad premise of the live-action Little Mermaid is anticipated to be followed, but specifics of the plot have not yet been disclosed. However, since Lin-Manuel Miranda joined the new movie as a producer and will add some original songs, the music, which was composed for the 1989 version by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, will probably alter slightly.
Where Is Live Action Being Filmed?
The live-action Little Mermaid has been in development since 2016. The COVID-19 epidemic caused a delay in filming that was originally scheduled to start in early 2020. In January 2021, principal photography commenced at Pinewood Studios in England. For almost three months, the movie was also filmed in Sardinia, Italy.
